Thermal insulation subsidies in canton Zurich

Zurich pays a flat rate per square metre of insulated element — roof, wall and floor against outside air or earth — and increases it when the whole envelope is renovated. A minimum contribution applies, which isolated small works do not reach.

Start by calculating the insulated area element by element, from plans or a measurement: that area, not the dwelling's floor area, determines the contribution.

Points to check

  1. Check the U-value required for each element, with the exceptions provided for buried floors and walls.
  2. Replacing windows alone is not among the listed elements: have the canton confirm how it is treated before counting on it.
  3. Provide a GEAK Plus once the contribution reaches the threshold set by the programme.
  4. File the request before works begin and wait for the decision.
